Extensions in Google Chrome are small programs that allow you to add new features to your browser. For example, block ads or check links for viruses. How to install extensions in Google Chrome, in the article.
Install add-ons from the official store
The main and, more importantly, safe source of such programs is the Chrome Web Store. As an example, let's add an extension for downloading music from VKontakte called SaveFrom Net. This is done as follows:
Open Google Chrome browser, go to "Settings" from the main menu

- In the upper left corner, click on the button with the image of 3 horizontal stripes.
- In the block that opens, select the sub-item "Extensions".
- In the new tab, once again click on the button in the upper left corner and select "Open an online store" at the bottom of the list.

On the new page, in the text field with the inscription "Search by store" enterthe name of the extension you are looking for
In the right part of the window, select the appropriate add-on and click "Install"
In the notification that appears at the top, click on the inscription "Install extension"

This completes the installation of the extension.
How to install an extension in Google Chrome from other sources
This is a little more difficult, as company policy forbids doing this for security reasons. The easiest way to use is as follows:
- Download the required extension to your hard drive.
- Change its extension from.crx to.zip.
- Extract files using WinRar or 7zip to a separate folder.
- In the main menu, go to the "Additional tools" section and select "Extensions" in it.
- In the settings menu, enable "Developer Mode" using the appropriate switch.
- Press the "Load unpacked extension" button and select the folder where the renamed file was unpacked.
- Confirm installation permission.
This completes the installation of the add-on from an unofficial source.
View and remove extensions
In order to view all installed extensions for Google Chrome, you need to go to the settings section of the same name, using steps No. 1, 2 and 3 from the first method or No. 4 from the second.

Removing add-ons is as easy as theirinstallation. To do this, just click the "Delete" button or the icon with the image of a trash can and agree to the operation.
Note: All instructions and screenshots apply to Google Chrome 69. In older versions, the procedure is similar, but the interface may differ.
