A trader from Novigrad told Ger alt about a magician named Aeramas. This poor fellow, like many of his colleagues, met a terrible death at the stake. Without heirs, his vast rural estate was left - and if the rumors about this eccentric sorcerer were true, many rarities and valuable secrets are stored inside it … This is how the quest in The Witcher 3 begins - "Cheese and dark forces." It often causes difficulty in passing, so clear instructions are needed for it.
Quest Description
The quest in The Witcher 3 - "Cheese and dark forces" is a secondary one. First you need to go through the quest "To the Touch" - the player will definitely need the "Eye of Nehalena" amulet, which can reveal illusions. It will be given by the sorceress Keira.
Tips:
- most preferred level: 9;
- the only monsters that the player will encounter are foggers. Read about them in the bestiary;
- you will need the "Cat" elixir or a torch.

How to complete the quest?
- We need to get back to Novigrad. There is a shop in the northern part of the city near the hairdresser. The merchant will tell Ger alt about the treasures of the Aeramas estate and sell his things (be sure to buy a lizard). After that, you need to return to the estate.
- Ger alt needs to search the manor with his witcher senses. So the player will find the sorcerer's notes, as well as the drawing of the Cat's armor. The next step is to explore the pentagram using the artifacts of the sorcerer, open the portal.
- Ger alt arrives in a large cave filled with statues and cheese with an unbearable stench. These statues and cheeses together form a maze to go through. On the other side of the cave, the next portal awaits the player.
- This portal opens a new location "Cheese and dark forces" in The Witcher 3. This is a flooded cave. The path lies on land and under water, and at the end you will find yourself in the laboratory of the magician. Here you will have to fight with several fogs. Exploring the laboratory, Ger alt will find Aeramas' notes and other useful things. Use Keira's amulet on the glowing wall: there are several chests behind it. Go through the new portal.
- Ger alt finds himself in another cave. The shrine in the middle of the room is protected by redenergy shield to be destroyed. Near the walls there are two small pyramids, to which you need to apply the Igni sign. Be careful, one of them is hidden by an illusion.
- When the shield is knocked down, Ger alt will be able to get to the sanctuary depicting a man and his dog. At the base of the temple lies a steel sword, which Ger alt will call "Emmental".
- The chest next to the statue contains the final item needed to activate the portal at the back of the room leading back to the Aeramas manor. The task "Cheese and dark forces" in The Witcher 3 is completed.
Items
If the player searches the ruined manor from top to bottom, they will find a lot of interesting things. Among the various useless knick-knacks, Ger alt will discover treasures that Aeramas skillfully concealed from the world. Tyromancers are generally not very cheerful, but perhaps Aeramas would be glad to know that his treasures were in good hands. The most valuable item that can be obtained in the Cheese and Dark Powers quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the Emmental sword.
