At the end of July, Microsoft took a completely unprecedented step by releasing the latest and allegedly revolutionary “OS” Windows 10. Whether it is worth installing it like this, on the fly, is a rather moot point. Let's try to weigh the pros and cons and see how the system behaves not on desktop computers, but on laptops.
Was it worth installing Windows 10: first impressions
Let's start with the fact that the system has become available on the official Microsoft portal for download or online installation for free, which has never been seen before. Indeed, before the licensed "Windows" was quite expensive, and not every user could afford to purchase it. That is why most users used exclusively pirated or hacked copies with already activated keys found on the Internet.

It's different here. The fact is that the “ten” itself is installedinitially as an update to an existing system (only for Windows 7 and above systems), which was not the case before either. With all this, after installation, you can notice that the product itself is already activated. Activation keys should only be used for a clean reinstall after an upgrade. But the key itself is sent to the registered user either by e-mail or to the phone number specified when obtaining a Microsoft account. So in this sense, the question of whether to install Windows 10 has an unequivocal answer: “Yes!”. Everything is free. Even the now available Pro upgrade.
Notebook system requirements
As for the hardware configuration, they are surprisingly low. For the normal operation of the system, only a 2-core processor and 2 gigs of RAM are required (even on an old “laptop” there will be no performance problems), and for the initial installation - about 20 GB of free disk space (when upgrading to the Pro version - more plus 10 GB). By the way, if you wish, if you don’t like something in the top ten, you can always return to the old system, but only on the condition that its files have not been deleted.

If you do not return to the original state, after installation, you can delete all the "dozens" boot files, and at the same time the files of the old system (only using the standard disk cleanup tool). Thus, about 25-30 GB are freed up on the hard drive. In this regard, the question of whether to install Windows 10 has a slightly different aspect, because you cantry the system in practice, and only then decide whether to keep it as the main one or demolish it.
Interface
Somewhat unusual for many users of the "seven" or even "express" may seem to be an interface devoid of any hint of volume. But users of Windows 8 or 8.1 will not discover almost anything new.
But what is certainly pleasing is the return to the original place of the Start button with a double menu opening: one is classic (albeit somewhat modified), the second is part of the Metro interface.

Now a few words about the main question related to Windows 10: is it worth installing such a system on a laptop? If the screen supports a touchscreen or is a transformer (simultaneously both a laptop and a tablet), there is an interesting possibility of switching from a stationary mode to a tablet in one motion. It's very convenient and that's a definite plus. In addition, the system supports multiple desktops and displays multiple active programs on the screen for easy access.
Advanced Features
Now consider another aspect of Windows 10. Whether it is worth installing the system in terms of new or improved features, everyone decides for himself. To many, accessing them may seem very unusual, as some of the names or locations of the services have changed. On the other hand, if you deal with them, the user gets quite powerful tools for administration. And not only.

The latest and arguably fastest Edge browser to date, expanded support for Xbox game consoles with online game streaming, Game DVR streaming video recorder, Cortana smart assistant, universal use of voice commands, biometric identification at login - this is not a complete list of everything that is in the new system.
Compatibility with games and software
Now let's see if you should install Windows 10 for games or any other applications. Some users claim that games do not work after switching to the "top ten". Not true. Sometimes the graphics adapter driver may crash (this really happens), but if you reinstall it, there will be no problems.

And if you use all the processor cores (which is done quite elementarily) and delve into the settings of the video card (even an integrated model like Intel HD Graphics on a laptop), the image on the screen will be much better than in the same "seven" or " eight." Yes, plus full support for DirectX 12, which, in general, further expands the graphical capabilities of the computer system … So think about whether it is worth installing Windows 10 instead of the seventh or eighth version.
True, the downside is one not very pleasant moment. Although it is stated that the "ten" is not too voracious in terms of resources, this is not entirely true. There are plenty of services running in the background. But if you approachknowingly, disabling everything unnecessary or consuming the maximum amount of system resources will not be difficult.
It's also worth saying that if a regular upgrade to Windows 10 is done, all programs installed on the old system work without problems. The impossibility of launching some applications can only be associated with a clean installation of "dozens", as they say, from scratch. At the same time, not all programs that previously functioned in normal mode without failures can not always be installed either. However, it can already be said with certainty that such a general demand for the new system has begun in the world that software developers will clearly rush to release special versions designed specifically for the tenth version of Windows, which will function perfectly.
Windows 10: is it worth installing? What is the result?
However, this is not all that can be said about the new system. Naturally, it has both its pros and cons. Even the first version available for download looked a little raw. On the other hand, if you carry out updates, which, unfortunately, even when the automatic mode is set, are not always downloaded and installed, the performance of the "dozens" will always be at the highest level. The main thing is not to clutter it with unnecessary rubbish (this applies to all Windows operating systems).
Finally, it remains to say that the answer to the question of whether it is worth installing Windows 10, each user finds for himself, but, I think, the “tens” still have more pluses than minuses. As a last resort, if notlike it, you can always return to the system that was installed earlier.
