In 2012, the graphics accelerators of the AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series line were officially introduced. It included various modifications of video cards, which made it possible to create both high-performance computers and entry-level PCs. This review will be devoted to this group of accelerators.
Lineup
This group of accelerators was codenamed Southern Islands. In this case, the graphics processors were manufactured using 28 nm technology and were equipped with a separate buffer based on DDR5 chips.
The group of junior accelerators included HD 7750, HD 7770 and HD 7790 modifications. The first two video cards were based on the chip. Cape Verde and were equipped with a 1 GB video buffer. The HD 7750 had 512 stream processors, while the HD 7770 had 640. The HD 7790 was based on another microprocessor - Bonaire. In this case, the number of stream modules increased to 896 pieces, and the amount of RAM was 2 GB.
For use as part of personalHD 7850 and HD 7870 accelerators were intended for mid-range computers. In the first case, the user received 1024 stream blocks, and in the second - 1280. They were also equipped with 2 GB of RAM without fail.
The flagship line of accelerators was also represented by two models. The more affordable of them was designated HD 7950, and the older one was HD 7970. All devices in this series were equipped with 3 GB of memory without fail and were based on the Tahiti chip. The main difference came down to the number of active stream processors. 7950 had 1792 and 7970 had 2048.
Drivers. Installation order
AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series drivers are recommended to be installed as follows:
- Downloading the installation package from the manufacturer's website.
- Starting its installation and following the instructions of the setup wizard.
- Exit installation. Restarting the computing system.
- Correction of output image parameters.
After that, the PC is set up and ready to use.
Conclusion
In this review, the line of video cards AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series was considered. Although these devices were introduced more than 5 years ago, their speed is still at a sufficient level and allows you to implement most of the current tasks, so computers with such video cards still do not need to be upgraded.
